Research Assistantship Position - Spring 2025
The Bioenergy and Environment Research Group (http://www.samirkkhanal.com/) in the Department of Molecular Biosciences and Bioengineering, University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, is currently seeking a highly motivated and qualified graduate student to join our dynamic research team, with a planned start date in Spring 2025.
Research Focus:
The selected candidate will be engaged in cutting-edge research on resource mapping using GIS and remote sensing, especially mapping bioresource including agri-residues, site suitability for establishing processing facilities. Additionally, the candidate will be involved in anaerobic digestion (AD) of organic waste, such as food waste and lignocellulosic biomass, for bioenergy production. Prior research experience in GIS modeling, remote sensing, and bioprocesses is a prerequisite for this position.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in environmental engineering or a closely related engineering field is required. We prefer candidates with strong modeling backgrounds. The candidate must have an exceptional academic record and strong research aptitude. The position requires excellent written and oral English communication skills, including ability to prepare refereed journal articles and progress reports.
Assistantship and Benefits:
The Graduate Research Assistantship is highly competitive and commensurate with experience. In addition, the candidate will receive a full tuition waiver and financial support for attending and presenting research findings at national and international conferences.
